Never did I think that when I started the adoption process in January of 2016 that I’d be entering year 5 without a baby to call my own. The entire process has been difficult and last year was one of the hardest that I’ve had…both personally and with the foster system.
We suddenly and unexpectedly lost dad just 5 days into 2019. Five weeks later I got a call about a baby boy who was born 2 days prior and he needed an emergency placement. That little boy is still with me 10 1/2 months later. Fingers and everything else is crossed that this amazing little gift with tons of energy and a smile that will melt your heart will officially become part of our family this year. It hasn’t been all sunshine though. The foster system is fraught with issues and broken processes that desperately need to be fixed.
But, this post isn’t meant to be a complaint. Rather, it’s a thank you! Thank you for being by my side, for supporting and loving me through the last 4 years, for being there with me as I cry with frustration and laugh with pure delight, for praying/sending good wishes my way, for sharing my adoption story, and for being part of my village. I am incredibly thankful for all of your love and support.
